Former Royal chef reveals Queen's favourite foods -

Dear Friends, we all wonder what exactly goes on with the Royals.

I found this article interesting and thought you might too.

Cheers,

Jacqueline

By Royal appointment is a term that's been used for centuries to denote firms and traders who supply goods and services to the British monarch and their family.

Tate & Lyle Sugars, Lyle's Goldens Syrup, Heinz baked beans and HP Sauce, are among the popular household staples to enjoy a Royal warrant.

Other favourites blessed with the Royal seal of approval stamp include Cadbury's chocolate ,

Quaker Oats, Schweppes and Twinings tea.

But, living as they do behind the gates of the various royal palaces dotted around the UK, it's not always certain which foods and drinks actually fill the royals' kitchen cupboards.

And it appears that there are a number of other foods and dishes not on the Royal Warrant list that the Queen herself likes to enjoy, writes EssexLive.

The Queen's former chef, Darren McGrady, has spoken publicly about the Her Majesty's food choices in the past.

McGrady has revealed that berries are a key ingredient in the Queen's favourite dessert - and he couldn't believe his eyes when he once spotted the Queen picking the berries herself in the gardens of Balmoral Castle, in Scotland.

He said: "I walked across [the estate] and saw the Queen and Prince Margaret picking berries and I couldn't believe it. The Queen picking berries in the raspberry cages!

"Later in the night the raspberries were on the table and she said 'can you make a dessert tonight using those berries?'"

The berry heavy dessert is rather fittingly a "Framboises St George", which McGrady describes as "a sort of raspberry fool shaped like the English flag".

He added: "She had strawberries and raspberries every night in summer and she loved it.

"But if you sent strawberries up to the Queen in January, it's like 'off with your head, off to the tower. I don't want them out of season'.

"When they're in season and they're freshly picked at Balmoral, or the apples at Sandringham or the peaches at Windsor - that's what was important to the Queen."

But even though she's the head of the Royal Family, the Queen is also said to enjoy the simpler things in life.

McGrady is on record saying that they sometimes enjoy burgers, but not as we know them.

McGrady said: "They would shoot deer, and we would do venison burgers.

“There'd be gorgeous cranberry and everything stuffed into them, but we never set buns out.

"They would have burgers, but not the buns.

"So they would eat it with their knife and fork."

So if you want to eat like a Queen, there's nothing easier than picking some fresh fruit and tucking in

I hope you enjoy these tid bits. God save the Queen, she is obviously doing something right!

Cheers,
