It's Picnic Time ...

It's picnic time. And I swear everything tastes better in a picnic basket. There is something about packing up a meal or just some treats and taking it outside. Could be to the park, the beach or simply your own backyard. But chances are your phone won't ring, or you'll not even notice, and you'll simply kick back and relax.

Look for an old basket, or chances are you might even have one stuffed away somewhere.

I collect the old tin ones, actually I keep my CD collection in them. But I always keep two set aside for a picnic. One for treats, the other for dishes and cutlery. And maybe more treats...

Nothing says you can't find a basic one and give it a new look. Spray paint is fun, and rather instant. I usually put whatever I am spraying in a huge old box set like a shell, put on my dish washing gloves and spray. (In the garage or outside...) Painting the top need not be a challenge. Why not cut out some flowers and glue them on? And then add a spray or brush of poly.

There are many outrageous picnic baskets out there. Maybe you have some odds and ends of wonderful china you could outfit your own?

Fortnum and Mason (London and on line...) make spectacular picnic baskets. They call them hampers. Notice the Fortnum china? Makes my snacks taste better already...

Fortnum and Mason have filled hampers you can order. Or you can get good ideas of some gourmet treats to pack yourself...

Why not combine the best of both worlds? Tea time and a picnic?

Pack your picnic on your bike and see where it takes you ...

This cute basket looks like it fits right on your bike ...

And maybe you just land up at the park...

You don't have to get this elaborate... still, it would be fun to pull this out of a basket.

You might find you need several baskets to include everything. All the more reason to start a collection.

Don't let the basket or the treats intimidate you. Simply plan an escape, with a picnic. Jacqueline
